This course provides an overview of several agencies that work with students with disabilities as they transition from school to work. Gain a basic understanding of the resources and supports available to all students, including those for whom competitive employment may not be an option.
Course Objectives
Participants will increase their knowledge of:
- Inclusion and inclusionary practices in schools
- SE and CTE collaboration to meet the needs of all students, including students with disabilities
- Strategies to increase access to CTE courses for students with disabilities
- Managing the complex change of building SE and CTE partnerships
- Implementation of inclusionary practices from CTE and SE school partners in Washington state
Course Materials
The instruction for this course consists of five modules that include written and video content developed by the Center for Change in Transition Services (CCTS),a special education state-needs project funded by the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. The purpose of the course is to provide references and resources to promote effective collaboration and partnerships between special education and career and technical education.
Course Requirements
Below is an overview of the course requirements. Instructions for each requirement are outlined in Canvas.
- Modules and Module Assignments
- Complete Modules 1 through 5 and the accompanying module assignment in the Partnerships for Inclusion Workbook. You will submit the entire completed workbook at the conclusion of Module 5.
- Assignment: Final Reflection

- Complete the reflection assignment and upload the assignment to the instructor in Canvas.

Course End Date
Your course-end date will be assigned to you by email when you begin the course. You'll have three months to complete the course. All course requirements are due no later than your course-end date. You may submit the completed course requirements prior to the specified due date if you wish, but they must be submitted no later than the due date. If you need a limited extension of your due date, please contact the instructor.
Grading Criteria
To receive clock hours for this course, all course requirements must be successfully completed according to the criteria below. When you submit the assessment and assignments, you are verifying that the work is your own.

You can access your grades online in Canvas. When you have successfully completed the course, the instructor will send you the clock-hour form for your records (OSPI Form 1125 Inservice Registration).
